Grand Masters of the District of
Columbia Jurisdiction
In the
preparation of the following biographical sketches the author
has aimed to bring the subjects into view as men, as citizens,
and as Masons. The lapse of time, the fragmentary character of
the earlier records, the remarkable dearth of local news in the
public prints of the first half of the last century, and the
lack of information and sometimes indifference of descendants
have prevented the fullest realization of this hope, and yet
sufficient data has been gathered to constitute an interesting
and valuable addition to our local history, which is here
presented.
